Sound Design & Final Mix Delivered for Stunning Art Film

Words by Paul Sumpter, Thursday 15 Jan 2015

We were thrilled to have just completed work on a beautifully cutting-edge short film for London fashion house James Long for his AW15 collection exclusive to River Island. The 2 minute short, was directed by acclaimed director and visual artist Menno Fokma and premiered in London on January 12th as culmination of the London Collections : Men (#LCM) Fashion Week event.

Commissioned by producers Wake The Town, the film is typical of Menno's output. His work is about pushing creative boundaries, exploring new ways of visualisation with a surrealistic touch. Mind-bending stories that invite subconscious emotions to rise to the surface, sharing inspiration and making people wonder. The abstract nature of the film that blurs a surreal futuristic underwater other-world with high end fashion gave us plenty of scope to be equally creative with our sound design. We thoroughly enjoyed having the Amsterdam-based director in the studio with us to help bring his vision sonically to life. Turns out, he's pretty handy at table tennis too...!

The film was unveiled to an audience at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street to a select group of guests and fashionistas, including David Gandy and James Long himself, in an event entitled Fashion on Film put on by the British Fashion Council. Post-production was provided by White Lodge and Happy Finish. Music courtesy of Icelandic trio Fufanu on One Little Indian Records, a track called Circus Life.
