_What is Audio Post Production?
Technically, audio post production involves pulling together, editing, creating or improving all of the audio elements of your project
Ambiences, Foley, voiceover recording, sound effects and of course music are all meticulously crafted to heighten your story or message. Every sound needs to synchronise perfectly and give the visuals a new resonance.
The final mix – often called the dub – ensures all these components come together to deliver a seamless and breathtakingly immersive final product.
_Audio Post Production… more than just moving the faders
We’re not just here to make things sound ‘right’.
Sound design and dubbing is not simply a technical exercise – there’s an art to achieving a killer mix.
The audio post process should be part of the storytelling.
Proper audio post production intentionally steers the feel in one direction or another, depending on what type of story needs to be told.
_There’s MORE THAN one way to approach dubbing YOUR FILM...
Are we sound designing and mixing in an unadorned, gritty life-like style or one that’s intentionally hyper-real and cinematic?
Every word, footstep, drone, breath, sizzle and smash has the opportunity to have its own impact on the moment it creates. How it arrives, lingers and leaves give us limitless levers to pull in delivering the tone, messaging or mood.
Check out the way this short scene can be made to feel quite different purely through the audio post production choices.
The first mix makes the scene feel far grittier – edgy, almost dangerous compared to the second, which establishes a more positive almost rom-com mood.
Our sounds will always perfectly match any visuals on screen, but we can steer how the action feels, in a multitude of directions for your audience.

_GETTING CREATIVE
When we build the sound worlds our clients’ stories live in, we relentlessly explore, create and craft every last audio clip we utilise, to best express your idea and vision with audio.
Where time allows, we love to design custom sounds to your project, rather than shoe horn it through generic library sfx.
We go to great lengths to capture the perfect ambiences via field recording or using sound design and synthesis techniques to create a sound that no one has ever heard before. Something that can be completely ownable to your project.
We take great passion in making sure every element in the tracklay does exactly the job it’s intended to do.
Because there or thereabouts… is nowhere near.

_Leading the Ear
In the same way a cinematographer frames a shot to lead the audience’s eye, a great audio post tracklay and mix should do the same for how they hear the overall soundtrack.
With VO, dialogue, spot effects, sound design, Foley, ambiences and music all vying for attention, how we organise and prioritise all these elements is crucial in making the project not only super-engaging to listen to, but also easy to follow from the audience’s perspective.

_Understanding Your Intent
Here at The Futz Butler, any project always starts with you and what you’re trying to achieve.
Understanding the filmmaker or creative team’s intent is paramount.
What story are we trying to tell? What do we want the audience to feel? What do we need to add that isn’t already there? How can we take the project to the next level with sound to really bring it to life?
Ultimately what type of reality are we creating (and why)?
_Why work with a Full Service Audio Partner?
We work across the entire spectrum of sound and music production. Be that a soundtrack for your film, music for a commercial or simply a well recorded voiceover.
When it comes to audio post production, this can be super useful.
Our full-service package takes the guesswork out of knowing what ingredients are going into your soundtrack. We won’t mark a moment in the film with music if we know it will be accented by the sound design, for example. Or introduce a stomach-thumping sub bass if we know the music track at that point has huge 808s.
This means we can create clearer, louder and more dynamic final mixes as we’ve left space for everything to play nicely together.
_Need a studio?
With an experienced team of certified in-house engineers and project managers on hand to facilitate your every need, we can be flexible and accommodating to get your session not only booked, but files back to you with the minimum of fuss.
No stress – just stunning sounding projects, happy clients and peace of mind for you.
