We’re delighted to announce Canon World Unseen has bagged a swathe of awards in recent weeks.
Canon struck Silver and Bronze in the Ambient/Non-Traditional & PR category at The Shark Awards 2024, on 24th October. Also snagging a Silver in the Work For Good Cut at the Gerety Awards 2024 on 3rd September.
We collaborated closely with design agency VML and Prism on an immersive exhibition World Unseen for Canon EMEA held at Somerset House. This innovative exhibition recounts the personal stories of visually impaired individuals and was designed for and with blind and partially sighted people using immersive audio, elevated prints and braille.
Following the success of the London exhibition, the “World Unseen” has also been displayed at 15 additional exhibitions around the world.
We were extremely honoured to be asked to create an immersive audio soundscape for each image to interpret not only the global landscape and environment where each photo was taken but the story that each tells, exemplifying the crucial role that audio plays to convey emotion and to connect people & places.
As with all our sound design projects, we began by building our own sounds, tailored to each image.
We had some field recordings taken at Whipsnade Zoo a few years back however, we needed some additional vocalisations and moves to bring the giant animal to life… this is where Creative Director and Founder, Paul Sumpter really shone bringing these vocalisations to life. Pretending to be a one ton white rhino roaming the Savannah is not most people’s average way to spend a morning, yet for Paul this is all very much in a day’s work.
Massive credit to all of the Prism, VML and Canon teams for the creative sensitivity, drive and the unbound energy to bring these stories from all over the globe together and make this happen.
